Submitting to your team
This page covers submissions: what submitting does, how to do it, and what happens to your media afterward.
What submitting means
Submitting hands your media to your office as a locked record. Once submitted:
- The media becomes read-only. It cannot be edited, deleted, retagged, or regrouped. Not by you, not by anyone from a phone.
- Your company keeps it as its business records.
- Rooms containing submitted media lock too, and groups containing submitted media cannot be merged or dissolved.
The lock is what makes the record trustworthy. What your office has is exactly what was captured. See Evidence quality.
The submit button
On the assignment screen, the submit button tells you where things stand:
| Button says | What it means |
|---|---|
| N media ready for submission | Everything is uploaded. You can submit now. |
| Uploading X of N. Submit when done | Files are still uploading. Wait, or tap View upload queue to watch progress. The button is disabled on purpose. |
| All media submitted | Nothing left to hand off. New captures will go into the next submission. |
How to submit
- Get a connection. Submissions need one; the app will tell you "You are offline. Submissions need a connection." if you try without.
- Open the assignment.
- Wait until the button reads "N media ready for submission." If it still says uploading, let the queue finish. See Offline and sync.
- Tap the button and read the confirm sheet: "Submit N media?"
- Tap Submit N media.
- You get a success message: "Submission #N sent. N media locked."
That is the hand-off done.
Keep capturing after a submission
Submitting is not the end of the job. Keep shooting: anything new accrues into the next submission. The app says it plainly: "Keep capturing anytime. New media goes into your next submission." Many jobs take several submissions before they close.
Submission history
Tap Submissions (N) on the assignment to see every past hand-off. Each card shows:
- Submission #N with a lock badge and the media count.
- The date and time it went.
- By the person who submitted it.
- A short Ref code.
- View N media, which expands to show exactly what was in that submission.
If you see "N of M on this device. The rest sync in from other devices.", your phone only holds part of the submission because teammates' devices contributed the rest. Their shares arrive on sync.
When to submit
Your office sets the real policy, so follow their practice. Two patterns work well in the field:
- Submit per room. Finish the kitchen, submit, move to the bedroom. Each hand-off is small and locked while it is fresh.
- Submit at end of day. One clean hand-off once the walk-through is done and reviewed.
Either way, review your media before you submit. After the lock, nothing changes.
WARNING
Submitted by mistake? You cannot undo it from the app. Contact your office; admins manage submissions from the web console your team uses at app.contentscapture.com.
